November 3, 2016
Sky customers in Germany and Austria now have access to the group’s flagship entertainment channel, Sky 1. The new channel will join Sky Atlantic HD, Sky Arts HD, the Sky Kids app, and a wide library of on demand content – including Sky Box Sets – to further enhance the company’s entertainment portfolio in Germany.
Sky 1 is available exclusively for all Sky customers in Germany and Austria through linear and on demand viewing via Sky Go, Sky On Demand and Sky Ticket, and will give customers a brand new reason to take the Sky service.
Sky 1 in Germany launches this evening with the first episode of the international hit cooking show Masterchef, produced exclusively for the channel, followed by the 11th series of Supernatural. Other programming highlights that customers can expect this month include; Sky original productions The Tunnel: Sabotage and Hooten & The Lady; the popular UK documentary Dogs Might Fly; political drama series Madam Secretary, as well as the action series Shooter. Sky 1 will also show exclusive German premieres; Victoria, Medici: Masters of Florence and 24: Legacy starting later in the year.
Elke Walthelm, Executive Vice President Content at Sky Deutschland said: “Sky 1 is our new flagship channel for outstanding entertainment programming. Customers will have access to popular brand new series and shows that the entire family will enjoy, as well as shows on demand. We are kicking this off with Sky Original production MasterChef, a show with a proven winning format.”
