Germany: No decrease in household broadcast fees

The German state officials have voted against lowering the nationwide broadcast contribution charge that is mandatory for all households.
The officials voted unanimously that the fee should remain at €17.50 per month rather than drop to €17.20.
The broadcast charge, which has existed since 2013 and is mandatory for all hosueholds, goes towards funding the country’s public broadcasters ARD, ZDF and Deutschlandradio.
