Netflix US has just 31 of IMDb top 250 movies
October 14, 2016
According to a study by the Streaming Observer, the US Netflix service offers just 31 movies from the top 250 as voted for by the Internet Movie Database (IMDb).
The report also suggests that the number of these popular movies available to Netflix users is shrinking. A previous study by a Reddit user in 2014 shows the service had 49 titles from the IMDb top 250.
Netflix’s commitment to streaming popular movies is likely to be on the wane as the company seeks to put emphasis on developing its own content. David Wells, Netflix’s chief financial officer, recently said that the company wants half of its content to be original productions within the next few years.
