Westworld HBO’s biggest debut in 3 years

Westworld has become HBO’s most-watched series premiere in nearly three years, attracting 3.3 million viewers in the US.
The futuristic Western, based on Michael Crichton’s 1973 movie, debuted in the US on October 2nd. The figures, printed in Variety, take into account those who watched live as well as viewers on HBO’s streaming platforms.
It makes Westworld HBO’s most successful drama series premiere since True Detective pulled in 2.3 million viewers across all platforms when it was first broadcast in January 2014.
Westworld also beat the 2011 series premiere of Game of Thrones, which attracted 2.2 million TV viewers on the evening it debuted.
The show debuted in the UK on Sky Atlantic on October 4th.
