Spain’s Cellnex enters French broadband market
September 20, 2016
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Cellnex Telecom, a subsidiary of the Spanish communications infrastructure company Abertis, has broken into the French telco market following its acquisition 230 telco towers from Bouygues Telecom.
The operation valued at €80 million paves the way for Cellnex, already with a strong presence in Spain and Italy, to enter into France as an independent telco network operator and strengthen its position in the European market.
Cellnex plans to buy up to 500 towers in a later phase to consolidate its presence in the market.
