Sony China’s Xie Biao (president, consumer sales/marketing) says buyer demand for its high-end premium UHD TV sets is growing. Premium screens start at 60-inch and rise to 100-inch, and Sony’s prices range from about $450 for a less-well specified set, to nearer $4500 for extremely well-specified 4K/UHD units.
In Q1/2016, sales in China’s TV market totalled 12.4 million units, a 3 per cent growth year-on-year, according to research firm AVC.
Despite the single-digit growth overall, the ratio of 4K TV sets is forecast to hit 44 per cent of the whole market this year, double the ratio in 2014, according to Sony.
