Amazon to double original content spend

Amazon CFO Brian Olsavsky has told analysts that Amazon will double its video content spend during the second half of 2016 compared to the same period last year.
Speaking during the company’s Q2 earnings call, Olsavsky also said that Amazon was “nearly tripling” its number of new Amazon Original shows – TV shows and movies compared with the second half of last year.
Company wide, Q2 revenue was up 31 per cent to $30.4 billion (€27.3bn). Net profit was $857 million – the company’s largest ever for a single quarter.
