Scripps buy more DTT capacity in Italy
July 12, 2016
From Branislav Pekic in Rome
Scripps Networks International has purchased additional DTT capacity in Italy on national LCN position 33, previously used by Agon Channel.
Tirana-based Agon Channel was a general entertainment channel owned by Italian businessman Francesco Becchetti, whose assets were frozen as the result of an investigation by Albanian authorities over alleged fraud and money laundering.
Scripps has been present in Italy since March 2014 with the Fine Living Network, aired nationwide on DTT channel 49.
It is likely that the US broadcaster will use the additional DTT capacity to broadcast a second TV channel in Italy.
According to a report in local daily Italia Oggi, the transaction is worth around €10.4 million.
