July 5, 2016
Keepixo, a provider of software-based head-end solutions for IP based video delivery, is taking part in the launch of next generation ATSC 3.0 TV Station by WRAL-TV, Capitol Broadcasting’s NBC affiliate in Raleigh-Durham, by providing its DASH Packager which enables IP based delivery of media content as specified in the new ATSC 3.0 standard. WRAL-TV began ASTC 3.0 broadcast on Channel 39 under an experimental license from the Federal Communications Commission on June 29th.
ATSC 3.0, the new standard for over-the-air TV, brings enhanced 4K/HDR video, immersive audio experience and IP based delivery to bridge broadcast and broadband delivery mechanisms enabling new types of hybrid services such as enhanced linear viewing and access to On-Demand content.
“ATSC 3.0 is the world’s first broadcast system based on IP. Keepixo DASH packager helped us achieve seamless implementation of the IP delivery mechanism.” said Pete Sockett, director of engineering and operations at WRAL-TV.
Jerome Blanc, COO of Keepixo, commented “We are proud to be part of this technological breakthrough. Our DASH packagers leverage Keepixo long experience in IP based content delivery over broadband networks. They enable broadcasters to achieve smooth transition to ATSC 3.0 while guaranteeing interoperability with major CDN providers and client devices.”
