Spain: FTTH nearing 4m lines

Fibre-to-the home (FTTH) is significantly growing in Spain with a rise of 1.7 million year-on-year to reach 3.8 million lines as of April 30th.
The latest figures from Spain’s competition and markets watchdog Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC) reveal that in April, FTTH gained 173,946 lines versus the 128,425 decrease of DSL Lines. Telefónica is leading the FTTH market with a share of 67.8 per cent, some 2.5 million lines.
Overall, the fixed broadband market has over 13 million lines with a ratio of 28.7 lines per each 100 inhabitants. Telefónica and Orange are now driving growth in the market with Telefónica’s Movistar enjoying a 43.77 per cent market share, followed by Orange with 28.63 per cent and Vodafone with 22.65 per cent.
