Netflix has acquired the global rights to Ricky Gervais’ movie-length spinoff of The Office.

Gervais revealed the news on SiriusXM’s Opie with Jim Norton Show today, commenting: “This is exciting news and this is top secret, so I’m going to say it now. Netflix has bought out the rest of the world again.”

The spinoff, entitled David Brent: Life On The Road, will follow Gervais’ David Brent character as he tries to fulfill his dream of being a rock star. It will land in UK cinemas on August 19th; no date has been set for its Netflix premiere.
