The Producers Guild of America’s president Lori McCreary is telling film and programme makers to capture their output in 4K and High Dynamic Range, and thus “future proof our productions [which will then] be around longer”.
McCreary was speaking at a conference held at Sony Picture’s Culver City Studios, and added that producers should be looking 10-15 years ahead and it was essential to talk about the future.
She added that the costs of 4K in terms of post-production were also much more affordable today, and told delegates that a recent 6-hours of programming cost an extra $300,000 overall to be finished in 4K.
