Hispasat, MEO to air Euro 2016 in 4K

Spanish satellite telecommunications operator Hispasat and Portugal Telecom television’s MEO platform have reached an agreement to broadcast in 4K format the Champions League Final on the Sport TV channel as well as eight of the most important matches of the UEFA Euro 2016 on the RTP 4K channel.
The first match to be broadcast in UHD will be the Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid Champions League Final match on May 28th, and will be broadcast on the Sport TV channel. With regards to Euro 2016, the opening match between France and Hungary, the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be broadcast on the Portuguese MEO platform, via the Hispasat 30W-5 satellite.
Additionally, the agreement between the two companies, which aims to promote broadcasting in UHD, includes airing the Hispasat 4K television channel – exclusively for UHD content – within the Portuguese platform’s service offering.
