Piksel acquires Lingospot
May 11, 2016
Piksel, a leader in building online video businesses, has confirmed the acquisition of Lingospot to augment Piksel’s know-how in machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) for video. The acquisition adds Lingospot’s metadata extraction services to the Piksel Palette, cementing Piksel’s position as a champion for next-generation video analysis powering intuitive search, recommendations, and discovery.
“It’s becoming increasingly difficult to capture and keep a viewer’s attention, which is why hyper-personalisation of content discovery is essential to user engagement. At the heart of this user experience is the quality and granularity of metadata. It’s become particularly critical for MVPDs (direct-broadcast satellites, cable television, and wireline video providers), and broadcast and cable networks to efficiently consolidate their metadata between linear and OTT services, and to augment, in a granular way, the metadata associated with every VOD and linear asset,” said Fabrice Hamaide, President at Piksel.
“Lingospot shares Piksel’s passion for innovation. Together, our metadata enrichment services will allow our customers to evolve their business faster and simultaneously meet the increasing demands of the modern viewer. Piksel and Lingospot have been working closely in a technology partnership since 2015 and we’re thrilled to welcome them to the Piksel family.”
