Tivùsat: Over 2.6mn active smart cards

Italian free-to-air satellite platform Tivùsat has surpassed 2.6 million active smart-cards, with over 300,000 new activations during the course of 2015.
Currently, the DTH platform reaches 8.44 per cent of Italian households, with different percentages depending on the region.
The lowest penetration rate is in the northern region of Trentino Alto Adige, with 4.29 per cent, while the highest is in the southern region of Calabria, with 18.44 per cent.
In terms of cities, Crotone is top with 27 per cent of homes receiving Tivùsat, followed by Agrigento and Imperia (26 per cent), Enna and Savona (22 per cent), Cosenza and Olbia-Tempio (21 per cent), and La Spezia (20 per cent).
Tivùsat was set up in 2009 by leading Italian terrestrial broadcasters RAI, Mediaset and Telecom Italia Media.
Besides Italian channels, the offer also includes 9 channels in HD and 17 international channels.
