Airtel Digital-TV adds 619,000 subs in Q1

India’s Airtel Digital TV pay-TV operator has broken two sets of records. First, it has moved into positive EBIT territory for the first time. Second, its net subscriber additions for the 3 months to March 31st were the highest in the past 20 quarters.
In the quarter to March 31st Airtel Digital TV added 619,000 new subs. Over the full year it added 1.65 million net new subs, and takes its total to 11.72 million subscribers. The previous full year saw it add 1.06 million.
Monthly churn grew slightly, from 0.7 per cent to 0.8 per cent.
Airtel Digital offers viewers more than 500 channels, including 42 HD channels.
