Vodafone Italia will become the first operator in Italy to offer speeds of up to 500 Mbps on fibre.
The operator will initially deploy the new connections on its FTTH network in Milan, Bologna and Turin.
Vodafone Italia’s fibre connections with speeds of up to 100 Mbps (FTTC) are currently available in more than 270 cities for 8.5 million households and companies.
In addition, Vodafone Italia has expanded its existing commercial agreement with Netflix that, besides mobile, now also includes fixed network customers. All new fibre subscribers will get 6 months free access to Netflix, on up to two devices simultaneously.
Earlier this month, Vodafone Italia’s rival Fastweb announced it will upgrade its FTTC connections to 200 Mbps, with the goal of reaching 500 cities by 2020.
