BBC Studios launch delayed
April 1, 2016
The opening of BBC Studios has been delayed by a month.
It had been intended that hundreds of staff who make some of the BBC’s biggest hits such as EastEnders and Top Gear would be transferred into a new £400 million (€499m) complex on April 1st. But the formation of BBC Studios will now take place on April 29th.
The corporation said the reason for the delay is the departure of BBC Studios director Peter Salmon last month – who left after just eight months to join production company Endemol Shine. He has been replaced last week by acting director of television Mark Linsey.
