In Flight connectivity specialists Global Eagle Entertainment (GEE) says passengers travelling between North America and Europe on Icelandair are now the first in Europe to enjoy ‘jetway to jetway’ Wi-Fi access during the whole of their flight.
The service is available on Icelandair’s Boeing 757 and 767 flights on 43 destinations across Europe and North America. GEE says it has been providing Icelandair’s passengers with on-board Wi-Fi since the company launched connectivity systems three years ago. “This new system now extends the passenger Wi-Fi experience beyond not just their time in the air, but from the moment they’re welcomed aboard, to pulling up to the gate at their final destination.”
GEE uses satellite-based suppliers of Ku-band connectivity which supplies the on-demand web-services needed by travellers. Its systems are now on board more than 500 aircraft worldwide. The service includes movies on demand as well as TV shows, music and games. Passengers can surf the Internet and send and receive emails during their flights.
