Improved outlook at Telenor
February 10, 2016
By Chris Forrester
The successful launch of Telenor Satellite’s latest satellite, Thor-7, last April was the catalyst for helping revenues grow (up 5 per cent) at the Norwegian operator.
The company says the new satellite has delivered the additional growth capacity needed to expand business overall, although the improved revenues were also helped by the stronger US dollar.
Nevertheless, Q4 revenues of NOK 286 million (NOK 287 million same period last year) although up NOK 1 million on Q3 and well ahead of Q2’s position of NOK 261.
Operating profit was down NOK 11 million for Q4 to NOK 74 million (NOK 63m last year) and not helped by the capital depreciation on the new satellite.
