SpaceX’s Gwynne Shotwell (president/COO) says that the satellite launch company is about to ramp up its rocket manufacturing methods to produce – this year – about 18 rockets. By the end of this year SpaceX should be producing about 30 rocket units a year.
This, she said, will enable rocket launches to launch satellites “every two to three weeks”. Shotwell was speaking at an Federal Aviation Administration’s Commercial Space Transportation Conference.
The next planned flight for SpaceX is for the SES-9 satellite, likely to take place in early March.
