Mumbai-based Dish TV added an impressive 1.045 million net extra subscribers in the 9 months to December 31st. The broadcaster is targeting a net gain of 1.5 million in the full trading year to March 31st, and helped by expected additions to India’s Phase III digital roll-out.
Q3 saw 317,000 additional subscribers (same period last year 390,000). Dish claims an overall subscriber base of 15 million.
ARPU is also creeping up, by 0.6 per cent from 171 Rupees/month in Q2 to 172 ($2.53). Dish says it expects further ARPU progress helped by its push towards HDTV (it now offers 50 HD channels) and a busy summer cricket season. Churn was 0.7 per cent/month.
