All 4 appoints Palmer as Managing Editor
December 17, 2015
Channel 4 has appointed Charlie Palmer to the newly created role of Managing Editor of All 4 to define and deliver the editorial proposition for the platform and curate the viewer experience.
All 4 hosts an expanding portfolio of original programming, catch-up, box set and live linear content and has over 13 million registered viewers including half of all 16-34 year olds in the UK.
Palmer will oversee All 4’s multi-million pound original content budget which covers original commissions, acquisitions and TV programme extras and extensions. He will oversee the online video commissioning editors, the programme support and the online channel management team.
Palmer will also be responsible for adapting All 4’s editorial proposition across different platforms e.g. PC, iOS and Android to reflect the different viewing behaviours of audiences on these platforms and devices – and create cross-platform promotion and joined up commissioning opportunities.
Previously Palmer was Head of Viewer Relationship Management within Channel 4’s Audience Technologies & Insight division where he led the consumer facing element of the broadcaster’s award-winning data strategy.
Richard Davidson-Houston, Head of All 4 and Digital Content, said: “Charlie brings extensive, high-profile creative experience, an instinct for brand building and a passionately-held vision for where we need to take All 4 editorially. This is an exciting moment.”
