SVoD to overtake free streaming this Xmas
December 14, 2015
The number of consumers in the UK streaming paid-for content is expected to overtake those watching free streaming services this Christmas, according to research from Paywizard.
Data from a UK survey reveals an expected surge in SVoD subscribers over the Christmas period that could turn the scales in favour of premium services.
Paywizard reports that 19 per cent of UK viewers are currently using an SVoD service such as Sky’s NOW TV or Netflix and 38 per cent are accessing free catch-up services, such as BBC iPlayer and 4OD. If theexpected 20 per cent increase in paying online subscribers manifests then the paid-for total would hit 40 per cent.
