Selena Gomez series for Netflix
October 30, 2015
Netflix has given Paramount TV’s 13 Reasons Why, executive produced by Selena Gomez, a straight-to-series order.
The show, based on the New York Times bestselling YA book by Jay Asher, was created by Pulitzer Prize winner Brian Yorkey, who also wrote the pilot. 13 Reasons Why is the second Netflix straight to order series for Anonymous Content. The first is the Plan B collaboration The OA, which goes into production next quarter.
The book follows the story of a high school girl who committed suicide. The 13-part series will follow a male classmate of hers who receives a box outlining how twelve peers played a role in her death.
Universal had initially attempted to work up the book into a feature film before Netflix took the project on.
