Apple, CBS close to streaming deal
October 15, 2015
Apple is reportedly close to signing a streaming deal with US broadcaster CBS.
Les Moonves, CBS President, told Bloomberg TV that Apple was “having conversations with everyone about doing their own streaming services”. “We have had those conversations, as have the other networks,” he added. “Do I think something will happen? Probably, but I do not know when.”
The Californian company unveiled a new gaming-focused version of its Apple TV set top box, seen as an effort to challenge Sony and Microsoft’s hold on the multi-billion pound gaming industry, last month. The box is expected to reach Apple stores by November.
A deal would give Apple access to programming including The Big Bang Theory and CSI.
