MTG extends Premier League rights
October 5, 2015
MTG has won the exclusive rights to show live coverage of Premier League football matches from 2016-17 to 2018-19 in Sweden, Denmark and Finland.
MTG has held the rights since 2010 in Sweden and Denmark, while this is the first time that MTG will show Premier League football in Finland. The matches will be shown on a combination of MTG’s Viasat and other TV channels and the Viaplay online streaming service. The 2016-17 Premier League season will for the first time include games on Friday evenings, in addition to the matches on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
“Premier League is hands down the most popular national club football league in the world, and has a large, loyal and growing following in Scandinavia. We’re very happy to have extended this successful partnership with the Premier League, and that viewers will enjoy live coverage of so many great games from August to May each year,” commented Jørgen Madsen Lindemann, MTG President & CEO.
