Ziggo plans FTA sports channel
August 27, 2015
Dutch cable company Ziggo plans to launch a free sports channel before the end of the year according to Dutch daily Algemeen Dagblad.
The channel, a collaboration with broadcaster Sport 1, will include Champions League football, European championship qualifiers, golf, rugby and Formula 1 racing.
The move has been made possible by Ziggo’s takeover by Liberty Global. Sport1 is the only remaining premium channel in the Netherlands owned by Liberty Global, after the operator had to sell its premium movie Film1 channels to Sony.
