Facebook video chat for celebs
August 7, 2015
Facebook has launched a live video function for celebrities on its Mentions app. The feature will allow any famous user with a verified account to broadcast to fans who follow them.
If viewers don’t catch the broadcast live, they can watch the video later on the public figure’s page, which is different than similar services Periscope (which keeps the video for 24 hours) and Meerkat (which immediately deletes videos).
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Serena Williams are among the first to broadcast live via the app. MLS footballer Kaka and Canadian singer Michael Buble are also set to join the service.
