France Télévisions extends 4K trial
June 5, 2015
From Pascale Paoli-Lebailly in Paris
France Télévisions, which is currently trialling UHD transmissions at the Roland Garros Tennis Open, has confirmed that the test channel will now air for the entire duration of June.
Following the retransmission of the tennis tournament on both Fransat’s dish TV offering and Paris DTT network, in partnership with TDF and Eutelsat, the France Télévisions UHD channel will show various documentaries shot in 4K, along with a film about new technologies.
The trial is made in cooperation with Paris digital innovation festival Futur en Seine, starting next week.
France Télévisions’ UHD event channel is available across the whole French territory to Fransat subscribers and to Paris DTT network viewers already equipped with a 4K TV set.
It temporarily replaces the Fransat Ultra HD demo channel.
