Canada TV growth driven by sports services
June 5, 2015
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has released statistical and financial information on Canadian specialty, pay, pay-per-view and VoD television services for the broadcast year ending August 31st 2014.
In 2014, revenues from these services increased by 3.1 per cent compared to the previous year, rising from 4.1 to 4.2 billion dollars. This increase is largely attributable to an increase in subscription revenues of $160.3 million (or 5.9 per cent) compared to 2013, which more than compensated for the drop of $53.6 million (or -4.2 per cent) in national advertising revenues.
