Rovi vs Virgin, final patent claim lost
June 3, 2015
Virgin Media has won the latest patent claim brought by Rovi Corporation. This is the eleventh successive ‘win’ for Virgin, out of the eleven patent disputes.
All of the eleven have now been found invalid or been revoked by either the English Court or by the European Patent Office (EPO). Judgments in respect of two of these eleven are still under appeal by Rovi.
The patent in this most recent revocation related to a TV programme guide using software and information downloaded from the Internet.
