Eutelsat lines up UK Election coverage
May 6, 2015
By Chris Forrester
Eutelsat has lined up more than 400 hours of capacity bookings (as of May 6th) on 4 of its satellites.
The UK general election takes place on May 7th, although much of the coverage is expected to come on stream during the evening and overnight May 7th-8th when the actual vote counts are made and declared up and down the country.
Eutelsat says its satellite links have already been booked to give live coverage from 10 Downing Street, as well as some of the key constituencies and national HQs of the political parties involved.
Eutelsat has been streamlining coordination of bookings over the last weeks to ensure broadcasters and news agencies can benefit from optimal capacity and services, and is mobilised to manage last minute requests throughout the election period.
