Backed by SES and the likes of Google, Liberty Global and Allen & Co, the satellite constellation of O3b has announced a number of African contracts.
An ISP and pay-TV operator based in Chad, Presta Bist, will use O3b as their backhaul provider from Chad to the internet.
Hormund Telecom will use O3b’s satellites to deploy a cellular backhaul service in Somalia. Neighbouring Somalialand Mobile Network, which serves Northern Somalia, will also tap into O3b’s satellites. A third Somalia player, Golis, which operates in Puntland, will deploy O3b’s trunking solution for its subscribers.
