NovelSat releases Satellite Communications Software Version with improved Ka Band zupport
March 10, 2015
NovelSat, a world leader in satellite transmission technology, has announced the availability of Version 4.0 of its SMOS (Satellite Modem Operating System), offering significantly enhanced Ka band support and major feature enhancements.
Ka band offers high frequency, high throughput transmission with smaller, less expensive antennas compared with other satellite bands. Because of the higher efficiency of Ka band, demand is growing worldwide. However, at higher frequencies, Ka band transmission is more sensitive to noise, attenuation and weather fluctuations, potentially degrading signal efficiency. These challenges are mitigated with some of the new features in NovelSat SMOS V4.0, including the industry’s fastest ACM and advanced AUPC TX power control.
NovelSat SMOS is a unified satellite communications platform that ensures optimal interoperability, throughput, scalability and software-defined features and waveforms. The NovelSat SMOS platform ensures that upgrades can be implemented as software updates over the air (OTA) and without adding hardware. SMOS Version 4.0 is available for NovelSat NS3000 and NS300 satellite modems.
