French TV group NextRadio TV, operator of DTT channels BFM TV, BFM Business and RMC Découverte, has confirmed the acquisition of VoD and SVoD documentary platform Vodeo for an undisclosed sum.
With 5,000 TV programmes into its library, the Vodeo service is available online and carried on cable and IPTV platforms. It has around 3,000 SVoD subscribers who pay a €7.99 monthly fee on Free and Numericable, while the VoD line-up is available on SFR, Orange and iTunes.
Backing its documentary strategy on factual channel RMC Découverte, launched in 2012, NextRadio TV has declaresd it aims to become a leading documentary VoD provider in France.
Besides VoD rights RMC Découverte already owns or will buy, the group will also purchase specific rights to feed its new on-demand platform, independently from the linear TV channel.
Vodeo, whose brand will refresh in September, will offer a larger library of content than what is available on RMC Découverte.
