Sky: Next generation ‘Now TV’
February 5, 2015
Sky is planning a “next generation” Now TV box later this year, and is will also launch a similar service for Italy. Sky group CEO Jeremy Darroch said Sky will “really get behind” its OTT offerings “transforming.. some of the learnings from the UK into Italy and Germany.”
Sky launched a Roku streaming box for Sky Online and Snap in Germany last year and Darroch said that it now planned to launch “a similar box” in Italy. Sky’s first Roku-powered Now TV box was for its UK OTT in July 2013.
On Sky’s plans for Now TV, Darroch said it would launch a major marketing campaign with new branding. “We’ll be updating our user interface to drive engagement and consumption and we’ve got an outstanding line up of new exclusive content, which will bring to the next generation of Now TV box which will also upgrade later in the year.”
