January 28th will see 633,825 digital ‘vouchers’ issued to Thailand’s population. Each voucher permits the holder a discount on a digital set-top box or new digital-ready TV set. The issue represents some 63,000 households in five of Thailand’s rural provinces.
Thailand’s National Broadcasting & Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has also reported that some 821,000 previously issued vouchers have not yet been used, or collected from the Thailand Post offices. The NBTC is urging home-owners to collect their vouchers otherwise they will expire.
The nation has been issued with a total of more than 2 million vouchers.
