From David Del Valle in Madrid
Telefonica’s IPTV service has launched a premium TV series channel in Spain that allows viewers to watch top US series just 24 hours after their US premieres.
The VoD HD TV series service, called Movistar Series, is distributed at a monthly fee of €7 for all subscribers to Movistar TV.
Series like Outlander, Transparent, Madam Secretary and Penny Dreadful will be available along with The Affair, Grace Point, Alpha House, The Tunnel, Marry Me, American Crime, The After and Red Band Society.
With this launch, Movistar TV aims to strengthen its position in the market in view of the possible entry of Netflix into the Iberian Peninsula where other OTT services like Wuaki.tv, Yomvi or Filming are trying to gain market share.
