The Federal Communications Commission is celebrating Thanksgiving in the knowledge that its latest spectrum auction on November 26th had raised more than $38.1 billion. Auction round 37 saw the action slow a little but still with 127 bidders in the game, but add another $690 million since the close of business on November 25th.
The difference between Round 36 and 37 was a useful $367.5 million, and the hot property centring on New York’s Long Island batch of frequencies again registered interest with bidding rising from Round 35’s $2.35 billion to Round 37’s $2.462 billion.
The bidding is not over yet. The FCC is having its break and Round 38 will open on the morning of December 1st.
