Spanish multimedia communications group Mediapro is to launch a 24 hour Formula One channel for the entire Latin American region (except Brazil) in 2015 devoted to everything surrounding and related to the championship.
The new channel, which will be produced and distributed with Direct TV, will offer live broadcasts of all the Grand Prix races, 10 of which will be exclusive to the channel, as well as practice and qualifying sessions, entertainment, interviews, reports, etc.
The channel will be distributed via all Premium media (cable, satellite, the Internet). Mediapro acquired the exclusive free-to-air and pay-per-view broadcast rights in March, on all platforms and devices, for all Formula 1 races. This deal also included the rights to all qualifying races and practice sessions for Latin America (except Brazil).
Mediapro also reached an agreement with the FOX Broadcasting Company for the joint broadcast of 10 live Grand Prix races.
Mediapro considers the championship of great importance for the emerging Hispano-American market, which boasts a potential TV audience of more than 400 million viewers.
