Pay-TV operator Measat/Astro Malaysia is adding 10 channels, most of them in HDTV, on November 16th. Astro is also adding a VoD service option for subscribers.
The eight new HD channels are Fox Family Movies HD, Fox Action Movies HD, Hits HD, FYI HD, Astro AEC HD, Astro Shuang Xing HD, DIVA Universal HD and FOX HD. The other two new SD channels are ZooMoo and Celestial Classic Movies. These extra channels will be ‘free’ to watch as part a subscribers existing package until February next year.
Astro launched its HD services in December 2009 and protected by Cisco’s VideoGuard encryption. As at January 2014 there were some 3.88 million subscribers, up 400,000 on the previous year.
