MTV Awards attracts record UK audience

The MTV EMA (European Music Awards) has celebrated the 20th anniversary of its first ever staging by equalling its highest TV audience in the UK, according to BARB overnight ratings.
The two-hour music awards show, broadcast ‘as live’ from the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on Novmber 9th attracted an average audience of 551,000 viewers throughout its first ever FTA broadcast on Channel 5 as well as an additional 97,000 across MTV UK and its sister service MTV Music.
It was more than 3 times the overnight audience that watched on MTV the last time the MTV EMA were staged in the UK in Belfast in 2011. In all, more than 2.3 million viewers tuned in to Channel 5 and MTV during the broadcast.
