Arabsat is holding a board meeting in Dubai this week, but ahead of the rendezvous, Arabsat says it hopes the Board will give its approval to Arabsat’s plans for 4 new satellites.
The plan is for two to go to the Hellas-Sat orbital position (39 degrees East) to replace existing capacity and add new transponders to the location. The other pair will go to Arabsat’s existing locations, again to back-up and add to capacity.
Arabsat has additionally taken capacity on the upcoming ABS-3A satellite owned by Asia Broadcast Satellite and which will launch this winter.
