First two cable gateways “Excentis Certified for LTE Immunity”
October 10, 2014
October 10, 2014 ó Gent (Belgium) ó Excentis, a provider of testing services for access network technology, announces that it certified two dual band Wi-Fi & VoIP Cable Gateways for LTE immunity. Both devices are EuroDOCSIS products manufactured by Technicolor, and they are the industryís first to get the ìExcentis Certified for LTE Immunityî label.
Excentis recently launched an LTE Immunity certification test program. The goal of this program is to help ensure that cable services are not disturbed by electromagnetic fields generated by wireless equipment, currently LTE devices, using the 790-862 MHz sub-band of the digital dividend frequencies. Certification testing is done on EuroDOCSIS cable modems, cable gateways or set-top boxes for a specific interfering electric field (E-field) level between 3 and 10 Volts per meter.
The Technicolor products TC7210 and TC7230 passed all testing with an E-field of 5 V/m. These devices are the first to obtain the ìExcentis Certified for LTE Immunityî label.
“The certification is an important step for manufacturers and network operators in making cable devices compatible with the LTE wireless services operating in the same frequency band as the cable services”, says Wim De Ketelaere, CTO of Excentis.
