World Cup brings 230m+ iPlayer requests in July
September 1, 2014
BBC’s iPlayer saw 231 million requests in July. As the World Cup drew to a close, all three of the final matches made it into the top 20 most requested programmes, with the Germany v Brazil match generating 1.2 million requests, once again boosting live requests to 15 per cent of the total for TV – on a par with July last year.
July figures show that the profile of BBC iPlayer users has evened out over time in terms of male/female ratio, but remains strongly under-55 in terms of age, which is younger than the typical TV viewer or radio listener’s profile (although more in line with home broadband users).
