AsiaSat-6 ready to go
August 26, 2014

August 27th should see the launch of Hong Kong-based AsiaSat’s latest satellite. AsiaSat-6 is scheduled for launch aboard a SpaceX Falcon-9 rocket from Cape Canaveral in Florida. The launch was delayed by one day because of an explosion of a test flight of a prototype Space-X rocket on August 22nd.
This is the second launch of an AsiaSat satellite in the past month. AsisSat 8 was launched on August 4th, also by SpaceX from Cape Canaveral.
AsiaSat-6 was built by Space Systems/Loral and is based on their popular 1300-series version. AsiaSat-6 is designed to operate from 120 degrees East, and has 28 high-power C-band transponders.
The launch is scheduled for 12.50am Florida time (12.50pm Hong Kong time) and will be web-cast live.
