AMC eyes BBC America stake
July 31, 2014
The BBC is reportedly in talks to sell a near 50 per cent stake in its flagship BBC America channel to US television group AMC Networks.
BBC Worldwide, the broadcaster’s commercial arm, is said to have already entered into negotiations with AMC, home of Breaking Bad and Mad Men and owner of The Sundance Channel.
A tie-up would give AMC and BBC Worldwide a bigger slate of premium shows at a time when pay-TV providers are consolidating and content providers are looking to beef up their offerings.
