upc fibre available to 2m homes

Following the completion of the glass fibre optic cable network in Ticino, Switzerland, more than 2 million connected households can now benefit from upc cablecom’s modern information superhighway. Thanks to investment of over CHF 1.1 billion in the last five years, the company is now offering the fastest Internet across the whole of its footprint. The next technology upgrade which will allow speeds of over 1 Gbit/s is just around the corner.
Alexander Lorenz, Senior Vice President Technology at upc cablecom, commented: “Our customers already want high Internet speeds. We offer these to all of our customers – regardless of whether they live in a town or in a more remote area. What is more, our customers do not experience any loss of Internet performance when using TV and Internet at the same time and they can watch TV in guaranteed in HD quality.”
Thanks to the glass fibre optic cable network, all customers can also use additional digital TV services such as VoD and Replay.
