IMAX boosts China investments

Canada’s giant screen operator IMAX has reached an agreement with Shanghai Film to open 19 new IMAX-equipped theatres in China.
The new investment follows on from a very healthy 2013 for IMAX in China, which saw revenues by 26 per cent to $56.5 million, and on top of an existing plan to have a dedicated Chinese public listing to cover its Chinese operations.
IMAX, and has in place plans to add more than 246 giant screens over the next 5 years in China. says it expects to open these new Chinese theatres during H2/2015
